استقبل الدكتور ناصر محمد الخبجي، عضو هيئة الرئاسة، رئيس وحدة شؤون المفاوضات بالمجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي، الخميس، في مقر إقامته بالعاصمة السعودية الرياض، نائب سفير الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، السيد جنيد جاي منير.
جرى خلال اللقاء مناقشة الوضع السياسي الراهن، وبحث فرص التقدم في المفاوضات الجارية التي ترعاها المملكة العربية السعودية الشقيقة، حيث جدد الدكتور الخبجي التأكيد على دعم المجلس للجهود التي تبذلها المملكة، وضرورة تنفيذ اتفاق الرياض كنقطة انطلاق نحو عملية السلام الشاملة التي ترعاها الأمم المتحدة.
وبيّن الخبجي في السياق أن رؤية المجلس للحل ترتكز على أساس مبدأ الشراكة والمناصفة، مشيراً إلى أن تثبيت وقف إطلاق النار يتطلب مزيداً من الجهد، وإلى تشكيل حكومة تكنوقراط بالمناصفة بشكل عاجل وفقاً لاتفاق الرياض، يمثّل فيها المجلس حلفائه من المكونات الجنوبية الداعمة لمشروع قضية شعب الجنوب، وإشراكها بشكل فعلي في المرحلة القادمة.
ونوّه الدكتور الخبجي بأن إعادة تشكيل مؤسسات الدولة مثل المجلس الاقتصادي والجهاز المركزي للرقابة والمحاسبة والهيئة الوطنية العليا لمكافحة الفساد وفقاً لاتفاق الرياض، يعد جزءً مهماً لا بد أن يرافق تشكيل الحكومة، علاوة على إلغاء كافة القرارات الانفرادية التي اتخذت بعد توقيع اتفاق الرياض على كل المستويات.
وعبّر الدكتور الخبجي عن دعم المجلس لعملية السلام التي يقودها مبعوث الأمين العام، مشدداً على ضرورة البدء بتشكيل الوفد التفاوضي المشترك وفقاً لاتفاق الرياض، بالإضافة إلى تنفيذ التغييرات التي نص عليها الاتفاق فيما يتعلق بالسلطة المحلية في العاصمة عدن ومحافظات الجنوب.
من جانبه، حثّ نائب السفير الأمريكي، المجلس الانتقالي على التعاطي الإيجابي مع جهود المملكة العربية السعودية، مؤكداً على دعم بلاده غير المحدود للمملكة وجهودها في الملف والمنطقة.
حضر اللقاء الأستاذ علي عبدالله الكثيري عضو هيئة الرئاسة، نائب رئيس وحدة شؤون المفاوضات، والأستاذ محمد الغيثي نائب رئيس الإدارة العامة للشؤون الخارجية.
Dr. Nasser Muhammad Al-Khubaji, member of the Presidency, Head of the Negotiation Affairs Unit of the Southern Transitional Council, welcomed , on Thursday, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, the Deputy Ambassador of the United States of America, Mr. Junaid Jay Munir.
During the meeting, the current political situation was discussed, and opportunities for progress were discussed in the ongoing negotiations sponsored by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where Dr. Al-Khubaji reiterated the Council's support for the efforts made by the Kingdom, and the necessity of implementing the Riyadh agreement as a starting point towards the comprehensive peace process sponsored by the United Nations.
In the context, Al-Khubaji indicated that the council’s vision of the solution is based on the principle of partnership and equality, noting that establishing a ceasefire requires more effort, and the formation of a technocrat government with equity in an urgent manner in accordance with the Riyadh Agreement, in which the Council represents its allies from the southern components supporting the project of the cause of the people of the south , And actually involve them in the next stage.
Dr. Al-Khubaji noted that the restructuring of state institutions such as the Economic Council, the Central Auditing and Accounting Agency and the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption in accordance with the Riyadh Agreement, is an important part that must accompany the formation of the government, in addition to canceling all unilateral decisions taken after the signing of the Riyadh Agreement at all levels.
Dr. Al-Khubaji expressed the council's support for the peace process led by the Secretary-General's envoy, stressing the need to start forming a joint negotiating delegation in accordance with the Riyadh agreement, in addition to implementing the changes stipulated in the agreement regarding the local authority in the capital Aden and the southern governorates.
For his part, the American Deputy Ambassador urged the Transitional Council to positively deal with the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing his country's unlimited support to the Kingdom and its efforts in the file and the region.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Kathiri, a member of the Presidency, Deputy Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, and Mr. Muhammad Al Ghaithi, Deputy Head of the General Department of Foreign Affairs.
